Credit union reveals construction timeline of 11th Louisiana branch to open in Kenner

Since launching in 1961, OnPath Federal Credit Union, formerly known as ASI Federal Credit Union, has enlarged its roster of branches across the Southeast Louisiana region.

The financial institution has now revealed plans to construct a new branch at the 2629 Williams Blvd. site in Kenner, revering it the 11th branch and the first to be positioned in the northwest section of Jefferson Parish.

“We believe that opening a branch in the heart of Kenner represents a natural step forward in expanding banking accessibility for our growing number of Hispanic members and communities, while also granting all members greater fee-free access to funds,” Jared Freeman, president and CEO of OnPath FCU, said in a news release. “This site embodies a goal we’ve long pursued, reinforcing our dedication to the communities that we serve.”

OnPath’s current footprint of 10 credit union branches extends across four parishes along the Gulf Coast, according to a news release. Locations are dispersed throughout the South Shore, North Shore, West Bank, and Thibodaux areas along with one ATM positioned inside the Orleans Tower building on Poydras in the Central Business District.

According to Kristen DeDual, chief operations officer of OnPath, and Rachel Adams-Bolanos, director of marketing for OnPath, the site of the impending Kenner branch is situated one block from Veterans Blvd. near the Westland Shopping Center. The buildout has a preliminary conceptual budget of approximately $850,000, and the organization has hired VergesRome as architect and Colmex Construction as general contractor on the project.

The credit union is pleased to create an array of new job opportunities for the Kenner community, with a focus on Hispanic and bilingual employee development to target key services for local members and residents. It will offer “specific banking products for ITIN and undocumented individuals, a full-service mortgage department on site, as well as free community financial counseling,” said Adams-Bolanos.

Construction is slated to begin in the Fall, with a projected opening in early 2025.
